Out taking pictures with Christy session

This last December I had the chance to head out to Pennsylvania to spend a week there with family and have some Christmas fun! I was happy to see everyone since it had been over a year since I had seen Anthony and Brittany since they live in Florida now! Chris and Christy moved to Tennessee almost 2 years ago and I have missed my photographer talks and editing advice fun and sharing with Christy! I made sure that Christy and I took some time to head over to McConnell's Mills State Park just 8 miles down the road for a little picture time bonding since we don't get to do that much at all anymore!! :(

I miss you Christy! I wish you lived closer, but I can't wait to visit you hopefully soon down south!

Going Country!! Dan's Session

This last fall Dan asked me to take some pictures for a new music album he is working on! His new recording studio is just about finished and he is looking forward to his new Country Music Style! Dan has been playing guitar and singing for many years, but this will be his first Country Album! Good luck with the recording Dan. I'm sure it will be a lot of fun! Natalie's 6 month Session

This is one of my favorite faces to take pictures of!! :) This is my niece Natalie! Seems like just yesterday we were taking her Newborn pictures! She loves the camera and has the most beautiful eyes!! Tiffany and I had a lot of fun dressing Natalie up in tutu's, hair bows and beaded necklaces! Happy 6 months Natalie! Hard to believe Natalie is 6 months and my Janie is turning 1 next month! They grow so fast!

Fun Session for ME

Happy Holidays! I had two of the cutest models here to play with some chirstmas lights and candy canes yesterday! Well I guess they are here most everyday! :) My 9 month old Janie and my oldest, 8 years old Bailee! My middle child Mackenna was out shopping with her daddy! She usually loves the camera so I always have great pictures of her! Since Bailee was in the zone for pictures yesterday I had to take some since I had the opportunity!

I don't think most people realize how personal being a photographer can be! There is always something new to learn and i'm always learning from my mistakes! I have to remind myself that I only learn from my mistakes and i'll only get better! But, there is that fear! The fear that you only get this one chance to get it right! That is what a photographer worries about! I see such beautiful pictures and think how can I do that! I have come to realize that I may like it, but the reason it doesn't come to me is because that is not ME!! I think all photographers have a different style to their work! Some take and edit pictures very differently! They think a photo should look a certain way to what their preference would be! So yesterday was a fun session! Something new for me with the christmas lights, tutu's, candycanes and white sheet!! lol My girls and I had fun and i'm happy with the pictures that I got! Of course there were many that were bad and didn't turn out! But, i'm learning everyday and I look forward to using the new tricks with other pictures! Please enjoy! Laura and Dan's Fall Fun Session

I love this time of year! The colors are amazing and it gives me loads of options for backgrounds! Laura, Dan, Matt(dan's brother along for the fun) and I had a fun evening driving around and picking out the best spots for pictures! While at one spot used before we headed a little deeper into the woods and I found another favorite spot to add to my list of locations! :) A photographer is always on the look-out for new locations! While dark clouds were moving in from the south we were afraid that the rain was going to ruin our session. With so many smiles, a happy personality and lots of help from big brother Nick I was able to photograph this little cutie-pie right before the rain started! Woldring Wedding

I don't think I could narrow it down to just one thing I love about taking pictures of such a special day! Weddings are so much fun and so full of life, laughter and tears! This wedding was extra fun because I had the chance to hang out with a good friend that I last seen almost a year ago! There is something about not "just" being the photographer at a wedding, but feeling like your part of the fun! Thanks to everyone involved in this special day for Scott and Carol that made me feel like part of the family and part of the fun that came along with this special day! :)

This was a great moment to catch! I thought it was cute to see all the girls peeking out at the guests!

And of course a girl needs to check her Facebook one last time before she walks down the aisle!

Amazing Grace

Sweet Grace is 18 months old, independant and ready to explore! We spent the evening in Silver Lake and she was on the move from the moment I met her! So much beauty that surrounded her and she wanted to see every bit of it! Her favorite of course was the water, and even with it being too cold for our adult toes she didn't seem to mind, I think she would have jumped right in if mom and dad were not close enough to stop her!! :)

What a little princess!! She was so cute with the beach all to herself and princess wand in hand!!

Macher Family Session

Its been a while since I have gotten the chance to sit and blog for a while! I have missed it so!! Lately i'm finding that most of my time is taken up by being a mom and baby proofing my house!

I feel very blessed to be out doing something that I love! Enjoying the late summer season evening sessions on the beach with such wonderful families and friends! The Macher family was a blast to spend some time with! Although, the wind was kicking and the first chill of fall was in the air, they still made the most out of their session! Harmony and Brandon's wedding :)

The day started off cloudy and looking like rain the 4th of July weekend morning of Harmony and Brandon's wedding day! All of us hoping that the clouds would clear and the sun would shine. And, thats exactly what happened! With all her family and friends waiting for her she arrived and stod at the top of the Village Green stairs looking like a princess! With it being 4th of July weekend many Pentwater visitors and locals gathered on the sidewalks and filled up the benches to join in on this special day! With the Grand Piano playing Harmony made her way to her groom! Many chears were heard from friends, family and visitors all around the village green when it came time to announce the new Mr. and Mrs. Best Wishes to Harmony and Brandon!

Fabulous Idea!! Guests used these fans to cool themselves off during the ceremony!

What a fun idea with the Mad Libs! I'm sure they got some great ones by the end of the night! The guests filled them out and put them away for the Bride and Groom to read!

I also really love this last picture! You could really feel the love that Brandon and Harmony had for each other! They were surrounded by many family and friends and you could feel all the love and support from them! Harmony said that whatever could have gone wrong, went wrong! Old red barn with rusted metal roof, overgrown fields of grass, worn out wood fencing that runs around the property and of course an old milk shed complete with a rusty wind vane on the side!

We noticed a rusted out truck in the field behind the barn! The field was overgrown, but the guys thought it would be a great idea to get pics by it! I'm so glad we went for it, because it was perfect!

The bridal party headed to the reception in a trailer pulled by a tractor! What a blast!

Of course I have to end my pictures with this one! So glad I had the camera ready and focused!! LOL Chad flew in and slid on his knees to his beautiful bride!! He put on quite the show!! :)

Summer of 2011 and YES my brother is in the Scottville Clown Band!! :)

Even with the thunder booms and a few lightning bursts we stuck it out to listen to the good ole Clown Band. The weather ended up clearing up after a bit and we had a great time! We would never let a little rain keep us from seeing Adam do his Clown Band THANG!! He kept it a secret for a while and then he spilled the beans! He joined the Scottville Clown Band! I asked my sister-in-law Tiffany where in the heck Adam could have found those shoes! Well I guess those hot Michigan converse looking shoes are available at Wal-mart! LOL Adam is a die hard Michigan fan all the way. And, he is having a great time on this new adventure. I hear its quite the adventure and a lot of fun. The Scottville clown band travels all over to play and they have a ton of fans! So to all my local friends and family! Make sure to be on the lookout for Adam marching with the Clown Band for our Annual Pentwater Homecoming celebrations!!!! :)

Its always fun to post a not so serious blog post! It was fun to work on something a little more silly and personal to me! Never leave home without my camera! Especially when you know you are going to be around grown men dressed as clowns, construction workers, M&Ms, Sailors, women and many more interesting outfits! Travis and Lori family session

I think summer is finally here! It was a beautiful evening in Silver Lake when I met up with Travis, Lori, Anna and Ali! I loved their story and enjoyed being a part of Anna and Ali's getting to know Michigan Summer! This wonderful family has been out of the country for the last 7 years as Missionaries and they are now back in Michigan. Mom and Dad are wanting to introduce Michigan and all of its beauty to their girls that have grown up out of the country for most of their lives!

Poor Ali got soaked here! It was a little chilly!

Janie 3 Months already!

Janie is 3 months old already! Her favorite place is right beside me in her Baby Papasan while we listen to music and mama works on photos! :) She also loves to have talks with Daddy when he gets home from work. She always has big smiles for him! Photography has picked up for me this summer and i'm happy to say that my weekends are filling up. I'm happy to be a busy Mommy of Three!

We have given her the nick name of "Pickle" She seems to like it!

She is using her eyes a lot now to discover all of her surroundings!

She just rolled over for me from her back to her tummy yesterday! She is getting so strong!

She has her eyes on her big sisters here! She loves them so!

She really is so sweet! She is the perfect addition to our family! I even love our quiet bottle time early in the morning when its just her and I.

I really love her and that bright headband!! But, here is one without! LOL Her hair is growing and even the little bald spot on the back of her head is filling in now with peach fuzz!

Awe!! My girls! Bailee is heading into 2nd grade next year and Kenna will be in Kindergarten all day! I don't know what I would have done if Janie wasn't here with both of my big girls going to school all day! I guess i'll figure that out in another 5 years when Janie is ready for Kindergarten! :)

Van Nortwick Family Session

First **session** of the season and I was beyond ready!! Baby Janie is 3 months already and now the time has come to get out there and get back to taking some pictures! I guess the slow start to

spring this year has held us back some! :) So for the first time since Janie was born

I left her in the very safe arms of her daddy and two big sisters! They did great with her,

which I knew they would! I will not complain about the fact that she loves her momma so! I know

someday she will no longer want just me! :)

So out to the Orchards I went to meet up with the Van Nortwick family! Being surrounded by little

Introducing our new baby girl blog! Janie Diane!

Last June we learned the exciting news of a new baby that would be coming into our family!! After a long 39 weeks, hot summer and cold winter she is finally here. Our little family feels complete and perfect with her in our life. We couldn't be happier. Janie entered our world on 2/23/11 at 7:50am weighing 8lbs 2oz.

This is going to be more of a Birth Announcement/Brag post for my friends and family!! Please enjoy my blog!

Bailee and Mackenna were very excited to bring their new baby sister home! They have just loved on her since we have gotten home. They have been the best big sisters a girl and mom could ask for. Below is a picture of the white board that was in my hospital room. I loved the hearts and LOVE that was added by Bailee! We really are a family full of LOVE!

I have a new model in the house now! She is a week old in these pictures!! The best part about it is that she is not sick of my camera yet like her big sisters are!! LOL She will get sick of it eventually i'm sure!

What a fun morning!! Rushing around town in the cold and hoping that we get this project done before the snow starts!! But, by the looks of Brie you wouldn't think it was cold out!! :) Brie contacted me looking for some fun new photos for her work business cards and advertisement. Brie is a very successful Associate Broker for Coldwell Banker out of Hart, MI. I remember when Brie was just starting her journey with Real Estate, I knew it would be something she would be great at!! Way to Go Brie! To say the least we got some great pictures this morning and we got done just in time before the sleet and snow started to fall!!

Arron and Irelyn Family Session

I have been friends with Arron for many of years and I have been watching his daughter for the last 3 years. She is not your typical little girl. She is everything a Daddy would dream of having. A play in the mud, pick up bugs, work on the truck and help Daddy with his Buck kinda girl. :)

Day in the life of ME

As the days are getting cooler and the kids are getting older I realize that this is the last Fall that I will have these moments with all 3 girls at the same time. They have been a big part of my life for the last 3 years in daycare. Next year Kenna(my own) and Maya will be full time kindergartners and Irelyn will be 3 days a week pre-school. With the 3rd baby of my own on the way I'm not sure what the future holds for my daycare and soon to be full house with my own kids. So, I decided it was a great day to get out and talk a walk. We checked out the quiet streets of Pentwater and the beautiful colors on the trees. Had one last swing at the beach before it gets too cold and just enjoyed a great afternoon.

From left to right! We have Maya, Irelyn and Kenna! 3 very different personalities! Maya has a very quiet and shy front, but there is an outgoing little girl that is hidden under that layer. Irelyn is my goof-ball/tomboy, digging in the dirt, looking for bugs. She is not shy at all, she will be your friend. Kenna, my own daughter is a Diva. Loves to give me big smiles and silly/sassy poses for the camera!! So now that you know a little bit about these little ones you can see that my days were full of fun, fun, fun!!

One last one of me and my girls!! I have enjoyed every moment, even the stressful ones!! LOL I'm so proud of every one of these little mush's!! That is what I have called them. My Mush's!! I am very appreciative to the families that have shared their kids and their moments with me. I also appreciate how supportive they have been as I have started working with my photography. Awe!! You will have to forgive me, this blog is a long one. But, this is also near and dear to my heart. Erin and I have known each other since elementary and Sunday school. I couldn't be happier that Erin has found the love of her life, Don. So here it is! My first engagement session. It couldn't have been more fun.

I love these true smiles on their faces! They are so much in love!

I would really love to go into detail about how much we laughed while trying to get this piggy-back picture. But, I think I will keep that between Erin and I. It was a fun moment!!

Is it really possible that I used to babysit these boys 17 years ago? :) I met Kris and Dave while working my first job in Pentwater at Rinaldi's Ice Cream shop. Kris' parents owned the shop and whenever they were in town for a visit I helped out with the boys. From then on I used to pull the 2 oldest boys around in their bike trailer. Perfect night for pictures! I headed out to the Bass Lake outlet with Grace and her boys Ty, George and their newest member Ziggy. I have known Grace and her family for almost 3 years now and I can't believe how fast these amazing boys have grown. They have so much energy and keep Grace on her toes at all times!

Best Buds! George is always following his big brother around! I think he wants to be just like him!!

This was fun! Ty was my lighting assistant on this one and this was one of Ty's favorites. Thanks so much Ty for being a great helper last night!

We had a great night! The boys ended up jumping into Lake Michigan with all their clothes on and were in the water until the sun had set! LOL Boys will be boys! Ziggy was very patient, but so desperately wanted to be let loose to run around and swim with the boys. Thanks so much to Grace and her boys for letting me capture some family moments and memories!

What a great 4th of July weekend! I was surrounded by family and friends all weekend and we had a fabulous time. Jeff, Christy and I headed down to the beach to take family pictures for the Valentine family. We have known the Valentine family for many of years from the Chicago area and visit Pentwater every summer. I have seen these boys as babies and watched them grow from summer to summer into such handsome boys! Malburg Family Session

What a great morning to spend at the beach this last Saturday! I headed out with a family that I have known for the last 2.5 years. I am certified to do daycare in my home and I have had little Maya since she was just a toddler! Wow how time flies!!

Maya and my Kenna are in the same class!! Her mom and I can only imagine what kind of trouble these girls are going to be! :)

Monarch Summer Fun

For the last few years we have been walking through woods and searching on milkweed for tiny Monarch Eggs! The first year we did this my oldest Bailee was too cute while we tried to free our Butterfly, so cute she was featured on America's Funniest Videos! :) Well its that time of year again and we are about to see are first caterpillar turn into his chrysalis. So I thought I would share this years fun, and i'll be sure to post the other half of this Monarch's journey from egg to Butterfly!

These little guys are tiny!! Their egg is about the size of a period at the end of a sentence. Everyday you give them a new milkweed leaf and watch them grow!

Progression from egg to adult takes about 1 month depending on the temperature. They grow so fast they need to shed their skin 5 times before they pupate! LOL I feel like i'm teaching Science!!

Took this picture just yesterday, this is a fully grown Monarch Butterfly caterpillar. Just last night he has hung himself from his rear and we are watching for him to start to shed his skin!

The girls are bing very gentle. This is the only time we got the little guy out for an adventure, they are so tiny and fragile to be handled before this time!

What a beautiful weekend to enjoy the Ludington Marina Park with the family. Big smiles and laughs from everyone, except of course when it was getting close to bed time and time to leave. What fun spending the morning with Kenna and her preschool classmates! It was a great opportunity for me to get out with the camera and capture some smiles. The girls had big smiles and wanted to keep taking pictures. I love it when you take a few pictures and immediately after the kids run up to you and say "can I see it?" Then the go on and on about how much they like their picture! :) What hams!

Last night I headed out to the Aerts Farm, loaded onto the Bush Hog Utility Vehicle and went for a ride through the apple orchard. My driver and tour guide John was very patient with me while of course I had to take too many pictures as usual!! :) Thanks John!!

Its been too long since I have gotten the chance to sit and unwind with a little Photoshop Elements therapy! Lately my time has been consumed by my kids, house, wifely duties(lol) and the bathroom remodel project we are working on.

I wish my house was surrounded by all these beautiful flowers, unfortunately the pine trees that surround my house do not treat my soil good. I'm looking forward to heading out and walking the apple orchards soon, they are just about budding around here. I can't wait to get some great pictures!

I had the day off from work today so Kenna and I made the most of it. We headed out on the town to take a few pictures with my new Polarized Lens Filter! It was a little chilly, but we still made the most of it! It is so nice to see the green grass, blue waters and spring buds coming out to greet us for the new season. We can not wait for Beach Days!

During our day out we headed out to see Ray-Ray at work! Today was his birthday and we wanted to surprise him with some Choc. Cake and Cherry Coke!! MMMmmm Good! I was very happy to see that my niece Rowan was there too, she was waiting very patiently for a piece of cake!! Happy Birthday to my amazing husband! We love you Ray-Ray!

Chicago Trip! Family Fun!

Spring Break for my girls was last week. We headed to Chicago to visit my husband's side of the family and we had a great time while we were there. We visited the Brookfield Zoo, decorated eggs, made cookies and played volleyball!! We have decided to be sure that at least a few of our Spring Break days are spent there with our family.

I hope my mother in law doesn't want to get me for putting these pics on, but I just LOVE them. This is a moment never to be forgotten!! Thanks for being such a good sport Mom Hasil!

McConnells Mill State Park

McConnells Mill State Park, in Lawrence County, encompasses 2,546 acres of the spectacular Slippery Rock Creek Gorge. Created by the draining of glacial lakes thousands of years ago, the gorge has steeps sides and the valley floor is littered with huge boulders and is a national natural landmark.

In my Element! Happy! Really that explains my feeling while hiking through the park. I am a fun girl, a happy girl and a girl full of life. I had the opportunity to visit my Aunt Tammy and Uncle Char in PA. 20 minutes from their house is McConnell's Mills State Park! I last visited the park when I was 8 years old. I have a picture of us sitting by the Mill! The spot that we were sitting at was closed off so we couldn't get a picture sitting there, but I was able to at least get a picture of the area itself! Although I don't remember being there, I have the pictures to prove it. lol Aunt Tammy and I spent 4-5 hours there hiking/driving around and I loved every minute of it. Thanks to Aunt Tammy for being my helpful photographer so I could be included in these pics of such a beautiful area. I look forward to my next visit there.

I was in love with the clouds this night, it was beautiful out! All the colors that are shinning through are a reminder that spring is near. I'm ready for warm walks on the beach, this last trip out was way too cold. My fingers were red and my legs were shaking! I have to laugh at myself while i'm walking down the pier with my camera bag and tripod in hand. Changing lenses while i'm shaking and fingers are numb. The whole time thinking be careful don't drop this. LOL I have my hands full, but i'm having fun while i'm doing it. It just takes a personality like mine to get out there and do it! Please enjoy!
